Could Caps be in the Hunt for Another Goaltender?

The Chicago Blackhawks have parted ways with Stanley Cup-winning netminder Antti Niemi after an arbitrator's decision to award him with a $2.75 million contract. The Hawks said "thanks but no thanks" and signed veteran ex-Star Marty Turco instead. Could the Capitals be in the mix as a possible new home for the talented Finnish puck-stopper? Check out this post  - guess we'll have to wait and see if GMGM will be in hot pursuit.

It would be very odd for them to pursue Niemi with Varly, Neuvi and Holtby in the system now. If nothing else, Niemi demonstrated that a young, talented goal tender can backstop a team to the Cup -- and the Caps have three.

I'd say the Caps need Niemi like a hole in the head. No offense to Niemi but I'm not sure he's really any better than the kids we have in goal right now.
